Origin Story
Once long ago two tectonic plates smashed into each other as tectonic plates tend to do. After a long boring period of nothing there eventually formed a hill, upon this hill a fae spirit came to be that would later be known as Sly the Fox. Now among the fae the hill spirit was plainly and entirely a bumpkin who was only taking up space. And was hardly deemed fit to be a spirit at all by the other higher fae in the area. The fae as unfriendly and petty as they are in the area surrounding the hill devised a plan to push the hill spirit out, they hired a revered warrior to push the hill spirit out of his home.
The warrior soon came to the hill riding a snow colored horse and wearing armor black as night. The warrior stabbed his blade into the ground and called to the hill spirit in a bellowing voice. The spirit soon appeared and asked what the purpose of this was, the warrior being reasonable demanded the spirit left the hill immediately and never return less the spirit would fall to his enchanted blade. The hill spirit being the tricky thing he is caught a something in the warriors words, the spirit vowed that he would never step foot on the hill again as long as he existed. The hill spirit then packed his things and left, much to the pleasure of the warrior who didn't want to kill something so seemingly reasonable as the hill spirit.
The spirit took his leave and the warrior returned to the fae of the area and recounted what occurred only to be met with an outrage from the fae. The warrior soon realized from the fae that he had been tricked. The hill in a few thousand years time wouldn't exist, replaced with a grand mountain that would not have a spirit assigned to it upon its creation because the hill spirit was the original master of the hill and would therefore inherit the mountain once the hill had been long gone.
The warrior felt foolish for being duped and called out in his bellowing voice cursing the sly hill spirit to take the shape of the trickster he was as long as he remained away from the hill. The hill spirit supposedly transformed right at that very moment into a fae fox spirit and would stay that way as long as he remained gone. Instead of hating his curse the spirit enjoyed his new look thinking it a reminder that one day he'd have a whole mountain all to himself, and thus the sly hill spirit went off to find a new place for himself in the world to bide his time. That is the story of Sly the Fox.
