Midi Du'pont

A former corsair who abandoned the sea after the disappearance of his ship and crew.

Midi refuses to say whether the vessel sank, deserted him, or never existed at all.

He now wanders from settlement to settlement carrying songs, stories, names, rumours, and fragments of testimony. He believes that when the last person forgets a story, whoever remains gains the power to rewrite what truly happened.

He plays the fool because fools are welcomed into rooms where historians are not.

He drinks dark ale, demands his grog ice-cold, speaks several foreign tongues, and remembers what others have found convenient to forget.
