Origin Story

The tomb giant is often mistaken to have come from the fae lands like their elemental counterparts. However if you were to ask one, they would refute that claim to be complete and utter nonsense. Instead they would tell you a story of an ancient wager between Life and death, how upon switching Roles and duties for one day only, Death herself would create life. plunging her hands deep into the clay of the earth, Death pulled out her creations one by one, till standing tall before her was the first tribe of tomb giants. Now I know the humans have hundreds of stories of how they came to be, all muddled by thousands of years of miss-interpitations and miss-translations, but it's hard to deny a tomb giant's claims when the first of them are still around to this day. I however am not one of them, I am the third generation to come after the first, and believe me we are a lot more civilized than those old rotting codgers. Most of them would rather waste away guarding ancient tombs housing the dust of long forgotten gods and kings of old, paranoid that necromancers and graverobbers haven't forgotten the magical treasures they left behind. But that life is solitary and lonely, and I doubt Death herself would much approve of them wasting theirs as such, that's why we young ones live among the bustling cities and towns of the human folk. Though civilised as we are, that doesn't stop humans from being weary and down right on edge around us, thanks to more primitive man-eating giants such as trolls and ogres. To combat this issue we use our Death given magic to change our size and appearance to blend into society at large. Naturally we seek employment as grave tenders and morticians, performing our ancient rituals and practices to insure the dead return safely to the soil, undisturbed by the likes of the undead and other grave defiling hooligans. I myself guard a nice big plot of Imperial cemetery in Reikwald, with plenty of room to grow, with a nice little cottage on the top of the hill for me and my Darling wife Azzie to call our own. Now in case anyone reading this happens to be a necromancer or a grave robber by trade, the best thing you could do for your personal well being is avoid my graveyard at all cost, lest you're looking for permanent accommodations. Oh, and the names Barick, Barick Maplethorn.
