Origin Story

Brynjar was born under a blood moon in the village of Kaldskar, a fishing and trading outpost carved into the icy fjords of Berkwald. His father, Ulf the Broadback, was a revered warrior and merchant. His mother, Solveig, a seeress who whispered to the gods and knew the scent of death on the wind.

When Brynjar was twelve, a savage illness swept the village. At first, it looked like fever. Then, in the following moon cycle, people began disappearing. Wolves howled too close to the homes. Children vanished. And one night, Brynjar saw it, his own father, twisted and monstrous, ripping a neighbor apart in the snow, his eyes glowing with feral madness.

Ulf had been bitten by a Vargulf, an ancient werewolf spirit believed to be extinct. No blade could stop him; until Brynjar took up a cursed silver axe left behind by a relic trader. At just fifteen, Brynjar killed his father. His mother, horrified and proud, named him Moonbane. She foresaw his fate: to walk between men and monsters, cursed to understand both.

Over the years, Brynjar became known across the north for hunting various monsters. His approach was not just brute force — he studied the folklore, learned the rites that bound werewolf souls, and even brokered pacts with spirits to track the cursed.

His weapon of choice is Varulvøks, a brutal axe forged from meteoric iron and inlaid with silver runes. It howls faintly when near a werewolf. His armor is leather, reinforced with bone and the pelts of fallen beasts. Not just for defense, but as a message to the wild.
