Origin Story
The Tale of Santiago Alvarez
Born the son of a wealthy Spanish merchant in Cartagena, young Santiago lived a life of privilege, until a corrupt colonial governor accused his family of smuggling and seized everything they owned. His father was executed for treason, and his mother vanished in the chaos. Left with nothing but his wits and a burning desire for justice, Santiago fled to the docks, where he stowed away on a ship bound for freedom.
From Orphan to Outlaw
Santiago grew up at sea, learning the art of sailing from hardened sailors and outlaws who took him under their wing. He quickly gained a reputation for his charm, intelligence, and daring escapades, eventually earning his nickname “El Tiburón Rojo” after singlehandedly boarding a governor’s ship and escaping with a chest of gold while dressed in a bold red sash.
A Pirate with a Code
Unlike most pirates, Santiago sees himself as a gentleman of the sea. He doesn’t pillage for mindless riches—he targets the corrupt and powerful, redistributing wealth to the oppressed. His crew, made up of outcasts and misfits, are bound by his code:
1. No harm to the innocent.
2. A share of the spoils goes to those in need.
3. Never spill blood unless it’s absolutely necessary.
The Charismatic Trickster
Santiago’s greatest weapon is his silver tongue. He has talked his way out of prison cells, into enemy fortresses, and even out of execution—convincing a governor’s daughter to help him escape after serenading her. While he prefers wit over violence, he’s a skilled swordsman, fighting with the same flair and rhythm as his legendary flamenco dancing.
The Search for Redemption
Deep down, Santiago is haunted by the loss of his family. Every treasure he takes and every mission he embarks on is part of a larger quest to dismantle the corrupt colonial forces and uncover what truly happened to his mother.
