Danielle de Lancret

After Danielle's father passes unexpectedly just after she turned 18, she takes over her father's business. Socially unaccepted for a woman to take the role of a tradesman, ship owner, and businessman, she hides her identity as a woman dressing as a man while conducting business. She sails the seas profitable for several years before her ship is attacked and boarded by pirates. She and her crew successfully fend off the attackers but not without great loss to her crew. After returning to her home port in France for some time, she reemerges at sea, but this time as a pirate herself.
