Dianara Layne

Dianara Layne came from a rigid religious family and she could never follow the rules. She was a gifted tarot reader and an avid lover of the occult. When the traveler Hemlocke passed through her town, she crossed paths with Dianara and after conversing got a tarot reading from her. Hemlocke was impressed by the young mystic and invited her to join her on her travels. Dianara dreamed of escaping her uptight family and living free of their scrutiny, but declined and asked for time to think and let Hemlocke know how to find her. Her village was small and word traveled quickly, and her family had heard of her murky tarot trade and that she may have been consorting with “unsavory” characters and had secret plans to send her to a religious order for cleansing. Hemlocke had overheard this information in passing and rushed to Dianara’s window and warned her and once again asked her to run away, and this time she agreed. She grabbed what belongings she could and her divination tools and climbed out her window with them and never looked back. Hemlocke told Dianara about this place called the Duché de Bicolline where they could live the life they dreamed without fear of persecution and decided to make the long journey there.
