Origin Story

In the shadowed vale of a nameless land, where the mist never lifted and the air smelled of pine and earth and burning campfires, a girl named Karla was born under a blood moon. Her mother, a seer who spoke in riddles and saw beyond time, died as Karla drew her first breath. With her final words, the seer whispered a prophecy no one heard—except the wind.

The child was not left in the cradle of a village or wrapped in the prayers of simple folk. She was claimed by a wandering band of wild souls—rogues and witches, outcasts and warriors—who traveled from realm to realm, time to time, as freely as the wind crosses borders. They raised Karla under open skies and in ruins older than language, teaching her the forgotten tongues of fire and stone, the secrets of the stars, the songs of dying gods.

She bloomed like nightshade—untamed, otherworldly, dangerous. But it was her power that marked her: she could call the wind to still or scream, shape rivers to flood or vanish, and speak the ancient runes etched into bone and sky—runes that bent fate, whispered death, and unlocked doors no mortal dared approach.

And beside her always was him. A boy, later a man, carved from the same chaos as she—one of the vagabonds. Not born of nobility or place, but of freedom and fire. They were raised together, bled together, changed together. Time bent around them like reeds in a current. Lovers, allies, mirrors. No vow was ever spoken aloud; their bond was older than words. In every century, in every place, they found each other again.

Once, in a forgotten empire before the oceans shifted, Karla carved a rune into his palm and its sister onto hers—a mark of the eternal.

But as he lay beside her at night, she became restless. Her power had begun to fray the edges of time itself. Storms erupted when she wept; the dead whispered when she dreamed. She felt something awakening deep within her—a force not yet hers to command. If she stayed, it would consume everything… even him.

And so with tears in her eyes, a hole in her soul and fear in her heart, Karla walked away with a promise: “I will find you again.”

Since then, they have wandered apart—years passing like breaths in the dark. She absorbed lost knowledge, forgotten gods, pieces of herself scattered through time and sought the company of others, but none could fill the gaping hole in her heart. So in the quiet hours, when the stars watch without blinking, she finds him in dreams.

There, they walk through burning meadows, swim in lakes of memory, lie beneath quiet skies. She sees the mark on his palm, still glowing faintly, and presses it to her own. He has not forgotten.

In the waking world, she searches for him where the light hits the trees, and listens for his voice in the wind. She will find him again —not in dreams, but in flesh, in truth, in the moment where time bends and the world begins anew.
