Kendrick ap Gwrach

Kendrick ap Gwrach (a Welsh name pronouced goo-RAHH with a hacky/throaty H sound). He grew up in the wild with his single mother who taught him in the ways of backwoods sorcery until he was 10 years old when a band of Witch Hunters tracked down his family and imprisoned his mother. He then was raised by the Order and on his Confirmation Day, he was pledged into the ranks of the Witch Hunters. His initiation required the execution of his unfortunate mother who had lain rotting in prison for 6 years, 6 months and 6 days. Ever since that tragic day 45 years ago, he wrestles with the cognitive dissonance between his sense of godly duty and his deeply buried sense of familial betrayal. Due to this, Kendrick is slow to build trust with others. But he is easy to manipulate if you question his honor or sense of duty. His courtly and militant superiors know this well.

He has recently been introduced to several kind souls known collectively as Colibrille, the Hummingbirds. Their open-mindedness and tolerance are having a positive effect on his view toward all things fae and magical. Because of this influence, he has become a bit of an iconoclast and radical as far as Witch Hunters go. He will use "good" magic to fight "dark" magik and sees this not as a contradiction but as his divine right and responsibility to cleanse his own guilt, rather than the "sins of the mother" as that order of witch hunters asserted. During his travels in the Duchy of Bicolline, he met the paladins of St Augustine and pledged his hammer and his heart to their House Caerulean, who monitor the mschinations and depravations of the undead, especially those like vampires and liches with the conscious will to corrupt others. He pledged an alliance with the paladins, undergoing several challenges as an inititate. This included receiving a disturbing message delivered by a coven priestess, a follower of that whose name will not darken this chronicle. From this dark reunion, he realized that his soul-shadows still cast deeply. This could be a hindrance to his service to the faithful, or conversely a gift, when the shadows call.
