Octavian Rushford

Born the seventh son to a father who did not care enough to even keep track of how many children he had. Every child was given a purpose to advance their father's burgeoning trade empire. Octavian was relegated to being a spare child, kept safe at home to fill in should one of his siblings fail or fall. Stuck at home with nothing to fill his days but re-reading the same books in the library and practicing the few martial skills he picked up watching his older brothers his mind often wandered to the world beyond. He often asked his father if he could accompany his siblings on any trips they were taking but he was always denied for one reason or another. When asking to accompany his eldest brother on a trip to the coast to inspect cargo his father, frustrated with these repeated requests let slip the truth. It was not worth investing anything into Octavian until he had a role to fill. This solidified the fact that he would get nothing from his family no matter how hard he tried to be a good son. His path became clear almost overnight. Steal a horse from the stables, ride west to the coast and get on a ship by any means necessary before anyone from the house catches him. A week later the moment presented itself, Octavian's father and siblings were shut in the study reviewing facts and figures as he slipped out of the house and towards the stables, saddled a horse and fled with nothing but the clothes on his back and an old sword taken from the armoury. He made it to the port town of Wavecrest and signed on to the first ship he found in the harbour. His family decided he was worth nothing, Octavian will stop at nothing to gain whatever power he can to prove to his family and himself that he is worth something, no matter the cost.
