He has a wealth of business knowledge from growing up with his family, and is now looking to establish himself in a new city to build a bigger , better and more ethical business empire. He just doesn’t know in what yet….. Bernard is also a social man, he is always trying to bring people up with him as he builds success. However, he also has a dark side “likely inherited from his parents” that make him a fierce warrior and leader when danger comes for him or the ones he holds closest to him. Although he most certainly could stand to learn a few new sword fighting skills. This new journey will be one of much learning and likely humbling experiences that will shape his path.

Origin Story

Who is Rolland Sharp?

In the shadow of towering castles and amidst the echo of clashing swords, there was born a lad named Rolland. His father, Artemis, was a paper maker of great repute, whose hands shaped the finest parchments that found their way into the gilded halls of kings and queens. To those who knew of him, Artemis was a mere craftsman, yet his work carried the words and decrees of the realm’s most powerful, immortalizing their wills upon the delicate sheets he crafted with care and precision.

Rolland, from his earliest days, grew up with the scent of fresh parchment in his nostrils and the feel of soft vellum beneath his fingers. While other children of his station busied themselves with the rough trades of peasantry, Rolland spent his days within his father’s workshop, surrounded by the whispered secrets of the nobility. He would watch with keen eyes as couriers in fine livery brought their lord’s orders, and Rolland’s heart would swell with pride, knowing it was his father’s hand that would bear such weighty words.

But as the years passed, Rolland’s pride turned to longing. He watched as knights rode past in their shining armor, and as ladies in resplendent gowns strolled through the market square, their heads held high. A deep hunger gnawed at Rolland’s soul, a yearning to be counted among the upper echelons of society, to walk in the corridors of power where his father’s parchments were carried. He was not content with the simple life of a craftsman; no, he believed that through his father’s work, the blood of nobility had somehow seeped into his veins.

In the quiet of night, Rolland would dream of a different life, one where he was not merely the son of a paper maker, but a lord in his own right. He imagined himself donning a nobleman’s cloak, with servants at his beck and call, and the respect of the people bestowed upon him as was his due. Rolland’s heart brimmed with ambition, and he swore that he would not be confined to the lowly life of a tradesman.

As he grew into manhood, Rolland’s ambition only intensified. He began to distance himself from his father’s craft, considering it beneath him. Instead, he sought the company of those who bore titles and lands, always striving to ingratiate himself with the nobility. But though he wore the fine clothes he could barely afford and spoke with a practiced eloquence, the nobles saw through his veneer. To them, Rolland was still naught but the son of a paper maker, a craftsman’s child aspiring to what he could never truly be.

Yet, Rolland did not falter. In his heart, he knew that destiny had marked him for greatness, even if the world had yet to recognize it. He swore that one day, through wit, charm, or even force, he would rise above the station of his birth and claim his rightful place among the lords of the realm.

Thus began Rolland’s journey, not of swords and battles, but of intrigue and ambition. A tale of a man who, though born into the trade of paper and ink, sought to write his name in the annals of history, not as a mere craftsman, but as one who shaped the very fate of kingdoms.
