Thanatos Black

I was born a commoner in a small coastal village, when I was a child say about 8 or 9 years old a large strange ship was found crashed into the rocks outside the village borders.

Strange men, with strange voices, and odd language were scattered in various states along the beach, there was a scramble amongst the villagers to help those that could be helped, and put to rest the ones that could not. Several families were chosen to house the healtier survivers, mine was one of them. This gentleman was stoic, and aloof for several weeks, accepting his food with a nod, and eating in silence. After awhile I saw him swinging a strange looking sword, I watched for awhile until he noticed me, he looked at me a moment, then pointed at me, and then his sword with a quizzical look. I nodded and approached figuring he thought I wanted to get a closer look. He sat down in a crosslegged position, and gently, almost lovingly wiped the glistening mirror like edge, and placed the sword reverently on a silken cloth. I sat down, trying to copy his posture, and looked at the sword with awe.... I tentatively reached for the handle, but he firmly blocked my hand, picking up the starnge weapon, and running a thin cloth over the edge, it cut it cleanly in two.. I was shocked, and fascinated. After a while longer he started encouraging me to watch hime train, and eventually gave me a wooden sword that looked almost like the one he was wielding. He then spent the next several months training me on how to use the sword, eventually after almost a year, another ship of similar design showed up near our village, and took the strange survivors away, before he left, the gentleman gave me a sword of similar design to his, but much less impressive, I treasured this sword and practiced what he showed me everyday. when I was a bit older 16 or 17 I think, some terrible men came and attacked our village, I used the sword to protect our omestead and my family, and I felt a slight surge of pride, and also regret. I decided to travel away from home, and see if I could find more people that were like me, and maybe come to terms with what I had to do, and I had a hope of improving my skills, and testing my ability a long the journey. Thats how I found myself here.

(OOC) I have some training with a katana,wakizashi, tanto, naginata, and other more traditional swords and weapons, but Im by no means an expert. I have studied martial arts, and have participated in other Similar events, SCA, some local friendly small scale LARPS, and I have played most every TTRPG since DnD 2nd Ed.

I heard about Bicoline through friends, and youtube. I have been interested in it since 2023. I hope to come in 2025, or 2026.

I am not sure if any of this is relevant, but I figured I'd include it. Feel free to encourage me to make edits. English is my primary language, but I am familiar with basic French.
