Origin Story
Violet Burrfoot, proud descendant of the legendary Tasslehoff Burrfoot himself, is a whirlwind of curiosity wrapped in mismatched satchels and boundless wonder. Barely over three feet tall but taller than most in presence, Violet has eyes the color of sunlit violets and a perpetually wind-tangled mop of honey-brown, magenta, purple hair, often held back by a silver woven circlet studded with a violet gem— a gift from her family when she set off on her very first adventure.
That circlet, along with the matching violet pendant around her neck, is more than a keepsake; it’s a lifeline. “So we can always find you,” her mother had said, blinking back tears while trying to stuff an unreasonable number of socks into Violet’s trunk. Of course, Violet immediately lost the socks but never took off the jewelry. Not once. Some things, even a Kender knows, are too precious to misplace.
Violet doesn’t adventure for fame, treasure, or even glory — though she wouldn’t say no to any of those. What she really wants is to learn. Her Great-Great-Great-Great-GreatGrand Papi Tasslehoff’s maps were never complete, and Violet is determined to fix that. Every blank spot is a mystery begging to be uncovered, every town square an opportunity to collect stories, and every locked door a gentle invitation to investigate what’s behind it. She means no harm. Honestly. She just... finds things. Borrows them. Often forgets she borrowed them. Always means to return them. Usually.
Despite the Kender trait of being seemingly immune to fear, Violet harbors one quiet dread she rarely admits — the thought of dying far from home, never getting to say goodbye. It's a fear that only stirs when she sees others fall in battle or hears tales of heroes who never made it back. In those rare moments of stillness, she clutches the pendant at her chest, whispering a promise to one day return.
To Violet, life is a story meant to be lived out loud — joyously, recklessly, and with as many side quests as possible. Whether she’s escaping a goblin horde after “accidentally” taking their chieftain’s crown (a very ugly thing, really), or serenading a grumpy wizard with a lute she just learned to play three minutes ago, Violet carries herself with the spirit of her ancestor: unbreakable, unafraid, and undeniably unforgettable.
She is Violet the Kender — mapmaker, mischief-bringer, and bearer of the Burrfoot legacy — one story at a time.
