From an early age a sense of duty grew in Arcadius. He wanted to protect the the city that had protected his family in their time of need. He joined the military as soon as he was of age and quickly gained the rank of Centurion, spending much of his time honing his and his legion's swordsmanship skills. In his travels during his time in the military he quickly saw that the plebs of the Roman empire needed someone to stand up for them and be their voice. Arcadius then learned of the Tribunus Plebis, or the Tribune of the Plebs - a role that served as a check on the power of the Senate and Magistrates. Using his rank in the military and the goodwill of his surrounding community he campaigned for and was elected as the Tribune. From the moment he was elected he made it his duty to be the voice of the common folk - protecting them both as a Centurion and a Tribunus Plebis." |
