Bjørn Halfdansson, "The Twice-Born"

Bjørn was a sailor and raider from the northern coasts of Mundus, a third son with no inheritance and no prospects beyond what he could take from others. He spent years running cargo and worse along the trade routes of the Kafe Sea, until a raid on a coastal monastery left him shaken in ways he couldn't explain. He abandoned his crew, sought out a priest, and was baptized. Since then he's been wandering from port to port as a pilgrim and deckhand, quoting scripture and old northern proverbs in the same breath, working his way south toward Asturia. He arrived at the port of Méridia following rumors that ships were being outfitted for the crossing to Terra'Kana, lands that remind him of stories he heard as a boy about what lies beyond the edge of every map. He's not entirely sure whether he's seeking redemption, running from his past, or simply following a compulsion he can't name. He suspects it might be all three.
