Origin Story
The exact time and date of Bug’s conception remains a mystery. In fact, much of the hermit beetle-fae's history remains unknown. What is known, however, is that long, long ago, Bug planted a grove, having found herself dissatisfied with the nature and people around her. And into those woods, she cloistered herself away, prohibiting any sentient life, or “man-folk” as she calls them, from entering. Only those that belonged to nature, the flora and fauna of the area, garnered her mercy, leading her to begin to cultivate a private world of her, the trees, and her beloved insect kin. There she remained for an untold length of time, until the day when just one more hapless man-folk entered her grove. Bug initially thought him standard, yet another fleshling to wander into her grove and never return, until her first attacks yielded nothing but parried arrows littering her grove’s floor. To her surprise, the man-folk responded by willing the trees to hold her, leaving nothing to do but talk. After much discussion with this so called “leader”, they came to an agreement. Bug would allow this man-folk and those he spoke for passage through her grove, and she would be left to govern her insects. He would assist in Bug’s needs in preserving the balance of nature within her grove, and she would assist in preserving the balance on the “region” when called upon.
