Origin Story
Eustache de Neufville (1047–1101) was based in Arras, in Artois, and is considered the founder of the great maison de Neufville. The family’s ancient heraldic arms were Or, fretté de gules (a gold field with a red fretwork pattern). He was a knight and lord (seigneur) of Neufville, a lordship in what is now the Pas-de-Calais region of northern France. The family he founded persisted for many generations — genealogical records trace a long line of successors numbered up through at least Eustache IX, all bearing the title of seigneur de Neufville and serving as knights in the region.
