Origin Story
Background:
Decimus comes from the Gens Marcia, a traditional Roman family that values military service over political schmoozing. Instead of sitting in a comfortable administrative office, he spent his years out on the frontiers, learning the ropes from the ground up, sleeping in the mud, and fighting alongside the regular line infantry.
The Nickname:
He earned the cognomen Buccio (meaning "The Voice" or "The Proclaimer") because of his ability to shout over the absolute chaos of a battlefield. When everything goes to hell and you can’t hear a thing over the clashing armor, his voice is the one that cuts through the noise to rally the line or call out incoming threats.
Role in the Legio Praetoria:
Buccio is joining the Praetorians as an adaptable veteran, not a bureaucrat. He isn't looking to push papers or demand a specific rank before proving himself. He’s there to be a reliable asset on the field, whether that means holding down the front line with a heavy shield, scouting ahead, or just using his voice to make sure the commander's orders actually get executed by the ranks.
