The Archives of Brax

Each religion and region will have different stories and explanations for how supernatural forces or fantasy species work. However, for the scholar who wishes to delve deeper, there are some records. Secondary sources are not hard to come by, simply ask an established scholar. But primary sources are rare. Documents like the Tablettes Savoir provide some clues.

The objective of the Great Battle seems both capital and trivial: it is a question of gathering Tablets of Knowledge, which will allow us to know the History of Bicolline and give clues about its future. The men of arms are not very passionate about the subject and allow themselves to be brought together by the men of the pen into a large coalition of right-thinking people wanting to unite to share knowledge.

Fortunately, a few conscientious objectors, including Gorghor Baey's men, decide to prevent this farandole. Gorghor's horde gets their hands on the Tablet of the Unspeakable, the most important of all. The talents of Mage Glahul make it possible to decipher its content, which to do well, does not share this knowledge.

Ignorance is the weapon of the powerful. The guilds of the Central Lands embark on various quests and battles to obtain Tablets of Knowledge, which will reveal the History of the world of Bihill. The desire to obtain this knowledge is such that a great coalition unites behind Redemption. Fortunately, the Phoenix will dare to oppose this brotherhood and allow the men-at-arms to practice their profession.

The search for knowledge is an endless quest.

A single being cannot claim to be capable of gathering all the knowledge of our world, even if he had eternity before him. Mortal races have created their share of great thinkers, philosophers, mages and other intellectual luminaries who have always hsought the answers to the biggest questions of our world.

The search for knowledge is a demanding quest.

As much as the professional soldier will have to harden his arm and refine his martial techniques, the scholar will have to dedicate himself entirely to his search for knowledge. There are no half measures in the quest for knowledge. To settle for half-truths is to accept one's weakness of mind and to wallow in the brilliance of incomplete answers.

The search for knowledge is a quest that strengthens the spirit.

The scholar must assume that what he believes is not necessarily the absolute truth. He must constantly question himself and call into question the facts established before him. He must train his mind in reflection, in deduction and be ready to reconsider what he thinks he knows under a new eye. In this way only universal knowledge will be able to progress and mortal races will be able to approach absolute knowledge. The scholars of our world will all agree that no knowledge can be transmitted other than through the perseverance and hard work of those who desire to know and learn. But yet... Shortly after the vote which decided what calamity would befall us, several thinkers and researchers established in all corners of our world experienced the brilliance of genius. This bright flame of knowledge which suddenly radiates the darkness of ignorance in which our minds are immersed. The mage created the spell allowing him to understand the incomprehensible. The alchemist created the elixir of universal knowledge. The priest had his vision. The shaman received within himself the presence of great ancestral spirits.

All are unanimous. They know where and how to find the answers to the big questions that have troubled our minds for so long. Universal knowledge at your fingertips! The certainties from which all currents of thought and research in the coming centuries will flow. But paradoxically, glimpsing this knowledge also raises its share of questions. Is it by chance that the brilliance of genius strikes so many people at the same time? Where does this absolute knowledge come from? Who owned it and why they want to pass it on to us.

You have to be naive to pretend that knowledge is not a powerful weapon that must be controlled, transmitted or even suppressed. Entire civilizations have fallen to the wrath of more evolved races. Dynasties of several generations have reigned by controlling the transmission of knowledge. What we are about to discover will forever change our perception of life. Major established facts will have to be questioned. Is it better to transmit this absolute knowledge or to keep it carefully in order to filter who can have access to it? Perhaps in some cases the truth will be so brutal that it will be better to destroy this knowledge and pretend never to have possessed it...

This Battle, at the dawn of the return of the Guardians of Knowledge, is intended to be an information war where the truth could prove cruel, or even decisive in the future of certain regions of our world. This information will result in the physical capture of objectives on the battlefield which will seal the destiny of each party.
