The Provinces of Dulgaron and Darganof Declare Independence - 1010

Landing in the Darganof in the year 1010, Rathan dreamed of founding a nation where all those who thirst for justice and freedom could find home. In 1011, he made an alliance with the rulers of the neighbouring province of Dulgaron by signing the charter of the independent country of Terres du Sud denouncing the current rule of Sultan Nakkan Ossan. In the year 1012, the citizens of the provinces crowned Rathan and officially made him their King.

Battle for Dulgaron

In the province of Dulgaron, Prince Resther Saint-Felix was informed of an attack by Sultan’s men, the Guerriers de la Montagne, and issued a royal proclamation summoning all of Dulgaron’s nobles to defend the province. Unsurprisingly, l’Ordre Notre-Dame de la Rédemption in Dulgaron did not only ignore his summons, but turned on the Prince, joining the Guerriers as they marched towards Gotwald Fortress in the heart of Dulgaron, intent on razing it to the ground.

With all the nobles of Dulgaron united except la Rédemption, the Guerriers de la Montagne forces were weakened, outnumbered and desperate. In a final push they attempted to enter the capital through the sewers where they were slaughtered to the last man by the freedom-hungry populace.

Following the battle of Gotwald, the provincial council composed of the l’Arrogance, the Garde Rouge and the Ost du Saint Reliquaire decided to divide the fiefdoms of Dulgaron among themselves and the council of Dulgaron turned their eyes eastward, towards the province of Kazarun, the jewel of l’Ordre Notre-Dame de la Rédemption. The unforgivable betrayal of the Redemption in Dulgaron made the council determined to make those who wanted to take their freedom pay.

In the vast expanse of the Desert of Ma'at that separates the Cites de Sables and the Terres du Sud, the King's troops caught up to them but were overwhelmed by the numbers of the Sultan’s troops. The King headed deep in the Dulgare Mountains where he had the advantage. A place of red canyons and unforgiving sun, the Abu-Akr Rifts north of Darganof and Dulgaron was perfect for leading the defence against the Sultanate armies. After several days of battles in the scorching heat, the forces of the Terres du Sud Indépendantes were on their way to repelling a third invasion of the province as the Traquers emerged victorious.
