Ozame

Background

Upon its creation in February of the year 712 of the first era, the kingdom of Ozame cut off all its political and commercial relations with the Empire. It developed on a system of sharing and equality of resources. Its geographical location works to its advantage, the kingdom of Andore on its northern border constitutes a real shield. The kingdom of Ozame is sparsely populated, only the region of the great rivers and the western coasts of Ozame are inhabited. The inhabitants of the region of the great rivers live mainly from agriculture where the land is suitable for it.

The population of Toirac draws most of its resources from the sea. The Balassouin is the most prized species among Ozame fishermen for its meat but also for the oil obtained from it and its numerous applications. Most of the territory which extends between Toirac and the region of the great rivers is covered with forest which runs along deep gorges forming impressive gorges. Toirac the capital is home to the Kingdom's parliament. The kingdom of Ozame has always fiercely fought against slavery and is the land of exile for hundreds of families from the people of the blue men. The current King of Ozame, Aurélien Sates, obtained the agreement of the population of Ozame to fundamentally reform the politics of Ozame at the end of the year 1001 of the first era.

Faithful to its principles of justice, the population of Ozame tried to set up an army of volunteers to oppose the armies of Vand'Hal, Lambertrand and Osgoroth during the Bryas War in the year 1002. But due to a lack of sufficient means to Being able to go to Bryas in time, they could only note with bitterness that the slave market was further consolidated and multiplied its ramifications.

As tradition dictates, in the year 1003 the kingdom of Ozame entered into an election to choose a new king. This royal election led Aurélien Sates to cede his throne to the new king of Ozame: Mordrick Naïgal who received the massive support of all the inhabitants of the villages of Toirac and the Grands Fleuves.

The year 1004 was one of consolidation for the Kingdom of Ozame. Far from the imperial wars of the north, the region enjoyed some prosperity under the reign of King Mordrick.

However, the year 1005 brought its share of problems to Ozame. Despite their involvement on the Andorian side during the great invasions of Andore, the people of Ozame could not avoid the arrival of the deserts of Garganesh at their doorstep. The Andorian domains of Dieulouard and Guette are now gaping wounds that line the borders of the Kingdom.

1005 was also the year of royal elections in Ozame. Two suitors presented themselves before the Keepers of Knowledge: Graord Jarl Konbjor Sigmar Skull Spliter and Sven Aegirsson. It was Sven Aegirsson, following a close vote, who was proclaimed the new King of Ozame during the summer.

The people of the Pack guild had difficulty accepting this defeat, which added fuel to the already tense relations that the guild shared with the people of the Spearhead.

May 1022: An edict from the regional council sets up the despot regency mode. A second edict appoints Sven Aegirsson as regional leader.

Despot Sven Aegirsson cedes his position as lord of the province of Toirac to Duke Saal. It also confirms the position of Shigemitsu Katamori as Lord of the Grands-Fleuves province.

Summer 1018: Following the exodus of the population of Ozame in recent seasons, the kingdom is no longer able to support a despot in place and Rebeka of Lowendal loses her title as Queen. The Ozame region still exists, but without the possibility of organizing a council at the moment.

Chalucet Point in Grossouvre became in a few months the center of the world for the Kingdom of Andore and Ozame, after they received a mysterious missive. This tiny piece of land extending over barely a few dozen leagues has become the focus of a real standoff between the two Kingdoms.

King Sven Aegirsson after his coronation in the summer of 1005 ordered the archives of 712 to be reopened. After consultation, he did not fail to remind King Solar that the entire province of Dinant at that time had almost become part of the Kingdom of Ozame. A vote had also taken place at the time in the presence of the Keepers of Knowledge to decide.

Today, King Sven Aegirsson I wants to recover this plot of land which is found on archive maps within the borders of Ozame. These records date back to the time when cartographers traced the border between Ozame and Andora. But this stroke of the pen dates back almost three hundred years and in reality, this land located in the current province of Dinant has always been inhabited by people from Andore, which Lord Artagnan loudly claims.

What should have been resolved through diplomatic channels between the two Kingdoms took a dramatic turn a few weeks ago. After the claims and revelations of the King of Ozame, a certain number of villagers from the Grands Fleuves region left to settle on this famous point of land in Grossouvre with the intention of founding a new village. This did not last very long, the inhabitants of Grossouvre, helped by soldiers of Seneschal Garin le Trébuchet, demolished the constructions already started and pushed the villagers of Ozame back to the border.

A few days later, these same villagers returned in turn escorted by warriors from Ozame and the Iron Spear. Lord Artagnan's reaction was not long in coming, he sent his most faithful baron, Garin le Trébuchet at the head of his men, the Dragoniers guild, to definitively drive Ozame's people out of Grossouvre. The face to face began and numerous contingents from both sides of the border came to support the position of their kingdom.

But, is it really for this piece of land that these two long-time allied Kingdoms are ready to plunge their people and their men into a merciless war which is likely to leave a gaping scar among the populations of this region of the world?

Perhaps history will tell us….

Momento Finis

The plain

Black clouds were accumulating above the two armies facing each other on the Grossouvre plateau dominating the stronghold of Pointe du Chalucet. It was a dark omen of this disastrous day when two kingdoms would clash over a ridiculous piece of land. In the ranks of the two hosts were multitudes of fighters from all the kingdoms of the Middle Lands, and even beyond. Our host looked great compared to King Sven's band of barefoot goons. Oh! certainly, he had managed to pay for the services of Notre-Dame de la Rédemption, the Phoenix, a strong imperial contingent as well as the Guilde du Montfort, but the rest was only made up of thugs, thugs, and other hastily armed soldiers. It was an army of ragged people. However, I was going to eat my words at the end of this day. They outnumbered us, had monsters, and many more war machines.

In front of them, the proud host of King Solar. The latter had dispatched his Regular, with flamboyant banners of gule and gold. Of course, the Regular is not a band of noble knights. They are boorish pedestrians, with only the pike and the dagger as their etiquette. But they are valiant fighters and would follow their sergeant anywhere. There were also the Dragon Riders, experienced mercenaries who led this army. Garin le Trébuchet was its constable. Garin le Trébuchet, known as the Soulless. He was the son of a beggar who was himself the son of beggars. If he would have followed the voice that God intended for him, he should have been in his place, in the fields, handling the plow and the scythe. Instead, he decided to lose his soul and wield the sword by selling himself to the highest bidder. He nonetheless remained a formidable opponent for Ozame.

The army was completed by a centuria of the Infernal Legion, who moved as one man. There were the Lotus No Chi, these warriors who come from far away and follow a strict code of honor. The men of Duke Salmarak of Buy were also present, as were the Vand'hals.

The True Faith also had its representatives; the Holy Order of the Iron Fist, of the Vinier as well as the Holy Order of the Temple, to which I belong. We had lined up under the banner of King Solar, a pious believer of the True Faith. For our part, we were in the background, kneeling in prayer. Garin had given us orders to sneak between the enemy troops and take them from the rear, and that is what we intended to do. I myself had to lead the charge of the Order, gonfanon flapping in the wind.

The tension was palpable. Neither army dared to attack first, preferring to wait to see the opponent's reaction. The bulwarks of the two armies were drawn up in a line, forming two parallel walls almost merging into one another. The polearms, banners in the wind, were raised, threatening like the fangs of a jaw that was about to close on this day.

The signal was given by the sound of the horn and the cannons spat out their death in a din of smoke and metal. On both sides, the lines of archers released their showers of arrows, picking off the unfortunates who did not have time to take shelter behind the shields. The two armies threw themselves at each other amid shouts and clashing weapons. The day started well.

The Templars charged in line, and we slipped through a gap between the Clan of the Snatched, to arrive at the enemy's rear. We fell right into their archers who found themselves without protection, facing our blades. Brother Ahab ibn Chakal our marshal gave the order to charge the archers. The latter launched a final volley of arrows which mowed down several of my brothers, but when we got too close, they were easy targets. It is always pleasant to come across these louts who use the bow and shoot down brave knights from afar. With my spear, I pierced four of them and I saw Brother Aldebert de Roiville, who was only holding his brans, heroically cutting through the mass while shouting “Monjoie, Saint-Denis!!! ". He was unleashed with an almost divine bravery. His companion from the Eastern Commandery, brother of Montbard, closely followed him. Brother Edward and his Northern Commandery had nothing to envy them, since they defeated many enemies. Soon we routed the archers. Around us there were only corpses of enemies. Victory seemed assured!

No! The wind had turned. The pitched battle had turned into several isolated skirmishes, and we were being driven off the plain. The enemy was outnumbered and we had too many losses. The Red Phoenix turned towards us and delivered the charge that broke our cohesion. Despite heroic resistance, we had to resolve to their
abandon the Pointe du Chalucet plateau.

The barricade

King Sven had won a battle, but he had not yet won the war. The Templars withdrew into the Harcourt forest accompanied by the Lotus No Chi. We found the Iron Fist supported by other guilds holding a barricade closing a clearing, where an abandoned camp stood. There were only two access points to this clearing; the main entrance between the barricades, and a path hidden in the woods. The defense was quickly organized because the enemy was approaching. The bulk of the troops were going to defend the main access while we, the Templars, were going to stay hidden in the woods outside the barricades to take the enemy from the rear. This plan worked wonderfully. A large force of Sven's men approached on the main road, determined to expel us from this fortified position. They threw themselves against the defenders of the main entrance, and too absorbed in their fight, they saw nothing when the Templars came out of their hiding place and threw themselves on their flank. They were all cut to pieces, the corpses cluttering the entrance to the barricade.

As we returned inside to rest, another menacing troop approached. They quickly understood their predecessor's mistake and decided instead to scale the barricade and enter through several points. The Iron Fist as usual held firm in the entrance, but the enemy was infiltrating everywhere. There was then a general melee in the clearing. They were coming from all sides. The combat was so confusing that I'm not sure I only killed enemies. I curse those who wear no color. A heavy rain fell at the same time adding to the confusion, and turning the ground into a quagmire of mud. But our courage and our Faith in God allowed us to repel them. In the end, all that remained was their corpses scattered everywhere.

But God had not yet given us victory. Mud and blood had stained our white tabards, so that we almost looked like beggars. We had not even yet relieved all our wounded when another strong troop approached. Misinformed, they only threw themselves into the entrance, so that they were surprised when they were caught in a vice again. The Iron Fist even took the pleasure of leaving his position to shoot them down in the path.

Our barricade withstood several more assaults. But we had probably sinned without confession, because God punished us in the most horrible way possible. While we were confronting a group of skirmishers on the road, Brother Édouard set foot in a nest of terrible Dinant hornets, surely the most fearsome wasps in the Central Lands. The swarm of wasps enveloped several of our knights and, trapped under helms and hauberks, they afflicted us with terrible stings. Brother Édouard was the most horribly affected. Out of action, he was so blistered that it was impossible for us to remove his helmet. Charis of Edinburgh almost had his eye gouged out by a voracious wasp. Another further away was convulsing on the ground in agony, pierced on all sides. These wasps caused us more losses than Ozame's army.

Put out of action by this scourge of nature, the Holy Order of the Temple could no longer do anything for the barricade. It fell under the final assault of King Sven's troops. The survivors of our Order fled towards the valleys of Harcourt, where we thought we would find refuge. It was across a path that we were blocked by an ambush of the Redemptorists, and it was there that we fell one after the other, in the rain.
