From my research, there is not one agreed upon theory. The Vrai Foi is said to have claimed that the Guardians are similar to beings like Tenamuach who many regard as a demon from another plane while others religions and scholars seem to mix information about the Guardians and The Watchers.
Order of Our Lady of Redemption were able to discover this plot by Uskuada, follower of Teratos. The True Faith Holy See had also warned against in-fighting and urged unity to fight rising chaos.
Not far away, in Sumadoma, in the domain of Lost, the Priestesses of the Great Dark One have assembled a powerful army to face the forces of the True Faith. Faithful of Teratos inflamed by their demonic fanaticism or mercenaries hired and paid with blood-stained gold, they all line up in a formidable host, guarding the entrance to a sinister religious building. Raised towards the sky like a blasphemy to the powers of light, the stone walls and red stained glass windows of a cursed temple reveal grimacing faces that twist in pain, so many souls locked in this infernal jail. But in the very shadows of this evil sanctuary, a glow is nevertheless visible, coming from a golden skull placed in a sanctified reliquary. The only remains of St-Denis the Walker, martyr of the Varie Faith, the relic is jealously guarded there by hordes of servants of Teratos.
Suddenly, silhouettes all draped in black, like specters of the night, appear at the top of a turret of the temple. Under the gaze of their countless troops, the High Priestesses and the Cerberus Norrisson are welcomed with a deafening clamor. “My faithful ones!” ", one of them writes, her eyes ablaze with an almost inhuman murderous madness, "The bait is deployed and our prey has bitten without reservation! Yes, the army of the Holy Sepulcher is marching to meet us! By Teratos, will we be ready to welcome them? »
Approving cries echo his words, a veritable cacophony of war howls and clanking armor. The priestess then bursts into perverse laughter which rises into the black sky. Everything is going according to their plan. And among this army is what the Teratossians need to bring their horrible plans to fruition. Yes, at the end of this campaign, the Great Demon Xtapos will cross into our world to sow terror and destruction. As for the countless souls who walk towards Sumadoma, it will be easy to gather a good number of them to please the Great Dark One...
The battle is imminent, the ground is already shaking under the feet of the combatants. Thunder rumbles in the sky, the clouds carry glowing hues, a sign of great misfortune. Will you have the courage to embark on this desperate adventure too?
In the year 1009, the departure of the guardians of knowledge left people seeking answers. Religious preachers seize the opportunity to convert followers, leading to chaotic conflicts among seven religions. The Circle and Teratos gain the most advantage in these clashes, with no respite from the recurring calamities affecting the world. Fears of the end of an era prompt a futile exodus, and amidst the chaos, voices from various belief systems emerge, claiming to guide people through turbulent times. However, a total war between different faiths looms as they blame each other for the calamities. Leaders of major religions mobilize their followers for an impending battle. The Holy See rallies the faithful, Teratos prepares in Syrn, Iliaca's priestesses call believers, and the Circle religion directs followers to Toirac. Solara's and Gorghor Baey's followers are also warned to prepare for the worst. Amidst this turmoil, a lone pilgrim preaches that only one belief among the seven will prevail, and the chosen one will receive the powers of the Great Book. In Loren's tournament qualifiers, armies representing different beliefs gather for the Great Battle. The Sun God Gorghor Baey, self-sufficient, remains above the conflict. A coalition forms against the true faith, which denies the existence of other gods. In the third chapter, Gorghor Baey gives a staff of power to Teratos. Ultimately, Gorghor Baey's forces achieve 11 objectives with 30 men, while the true faith achieves 14 with 450 men. The main objective of the Great Battle is to gather Tablets of Knowledge, revealing Bicolline's history and future clues. A coalition of right-thinking people aims to share knowledge, but conscientious objectors, including Gorghor Baey's men, thwart their plans. Gorghor's horde acquires the crucial Tablet of the Unspeakable, and Mage Glahul deciphers its content. The Great Battle also witnesses the incarnation of the Sun God Gorghor Baey, marking his first appearance since Transubstantiation. However, this event remains private and fails to convince his detractors.
1009 he void left by the departure of the guardians of knowledge and the torments plaguing the world leave men in search of answers. Preachers and religious people take advantage of this abandonment to try to convert them to their beliefs. A concert of seven religions, some of which have several gods, will lead to a most chaotic fight. At times other faiths will unite against the most influential, the True Faith, but at others they will work for their own benefit. The Circle and Teratos will win the most in these clashes.
Nothing seems possible in the face of the infernal cycle of calamities which have befallen our world for a second consecutive year.
The growing fear of the end of our era is sweeping cities and kingdoms, pushing thousands of people onto the paths of a futile exodus. What exactly should you run away from, if not your own fear? Where to go? What refuge to find?
It is in this growing chaos that the voices of representatives of the great beliefs of our world are becoming increasingly heard. “We will guide you through these turbulent times! Follow us! » This kind of palaver has now become commonplace. But above all, there hangs the specter of an inevitable and total war between the different beliefs which accuse each other of being at the origin of the calamities which overwhelm us.
The powerful voice of the Holy See was the first to call upon all the faithful of the true faith to gather their armies. On the outskirts of Zoleth, thousands of disciples have already joined the druids of the Sacred Althing. The followers of the Great Dark One have, for their part, predicted that the City of Syrn will be the epicenter of the new world that is coming, the apostles and priestesses of Teratos have begun to gather their faithful.
The armies gathered for the Great Battle oppose each other in a conflict of religions. Omnipotent and self-sufficient, the Sun God Gorghor Baey knows he is above these considerations. A series of three chapters allows each of the gods to shine. The arrogance of the true faith, which denies the existence of any other god, provokes a coalition of other religions to eliminate this paranoid sect. During the third chapter, Gorghor Baey, in possession of a staff of power, chooses to give it to Teratos, a gesture which is probably not unrelated to the latter's contribution in Transubstantiation. In total, the 30 men r-epresenting Gorghor Baey achieved 11 objectives, while the true faith, with 450 men, achieved 14. Which allows us to say that a Ghorean is worth 10 real times.
2012 - nasgaroth/true faith Beyond the ancient cursed lands of the dark elves, in a kingdom where night dominates day and chaos dominates order, an army of light is on the march, braving the dangers of Nasgaroth. At the forefront of the troops, an azure and white standard, bearing the golden cross of the Holy Sepulchre, floats high in the dark sky. Marshal Aldebert advances among the troops, murmuring a few prayers and imploring the Lord to protect them on this path of shadows. They are seeking justice and glory, but also revenge. They come to recover a precious possession for the faithful, a relic that should never have fallen into the hands of the ungodly. They are also determined to come and free the souls locked in these lands forgotten by God.
The elections for a new Argan king were decided not only by vote, but also by iron. The fight was supposed to take place on Wednesday, but torrential rain paralyzed all planned armed clashes. Under the aegis of King Hubert of Haldorf, the forces of the True Faith fought for the pretender to the throne Sebbal of the Snatched, the most willing candidate for good relations between Arganne and Haldorf. We have defeated the other claimants to the throne of Arganne, namely Lacrimar, Thur, Yahid and Hendrick.
Weapons are not enough when the man of the century gives the floor to the man of the century. Thur was named the new King of Arganne. After Saturday's victory over the insurgents, Good King Hubert of Haldorf stands tall and proud on a large pile of logs, surrounded by his court and the troops of the True Faith, believer Bastien Oséric, Chancellor of Arganne and Scholar Romulus of Chimera. He speaks in a loud and clear voice, so that everyone can hear him.
“Soldiers of the One, you fought well to crush the rebellion. Long live the Kingdom of Kafe! That said, the victory is overshadowed by an unfortunate event. Indeed, political shenanigans and corruption led to Thur's election as High King of Arganne. How can we trust this ancient vampire, worshiper of Teratos? Therefore, I solemnly declare that I name myself Lord-Protector of the Arganna Federation and I create the common good arg
annais. I will not rest until the crown is in my hands so that I can return it to a true Argannais who will work for the common good of the nation. (The crowd, carried away by this speech: war, war, war!)
The Haldorf Province consists of two heavily fortified hill chains—Nupe and Cacheu. The majority of its populace resides in these hills. Different areas Key cities include Nuur, an economic hub and Brahma, renowned for its basilica housing the heart of Saint Notger. The Nupe stronghold, densely populated, features forts across each barony. To the sides of Nupe, the Artoisard and Bornu valleys, populated by cattle breeders, lack significant villages. The western and northern regions are covered by the extensive forests of Segura and the royal wood of Air, used for hunting by the nobility. The Polignac Route, constructed in the 6th century, traverses Haldorf, connecting Arganne, Andore, and the Empire. Throughout its history, Haldorf is noted for its devout peasants, turbulent lords, influential criminal networks, and the pervasive presence of the Church of the True Faith.
Saint-Denis the Walker and the foundation of Haldorf
Haldorf is said to have been founded in 350 CE when Saint-Denis the Walker built a True Faith religious building on the domaine of Brahma. Saint-Denis had been sent by the church of True Faith at that time an imperial religion, to convert pagans to the True Faith. He was beheaded by local leaders in 370.
According to legend, Saint-Denis walked ten paces, his head in his hands, continuing to preach. It is fitting that Haldorf, known as a bastion of the True Faith, should have such an origin story.
From 350 to 1001 Haldorf’s history was that of any other imperial satellite with a series of imperial governors. Like the rest of the central lands, conflicts with chaotic forces defined the age. In 1006, Emporor Gar III, named a new leader, Hubert. Hubert was already well known for his prowess in battle, his ability to build collations, and his fanatical devotion to the True Faith. Hubert would be the leader to finally fight for Haldorf independence.
In 1006, just after the naming of Hubert as governor of Haldorf, Emperor Gar III was assassinated and Gorghor Baey proclaimed himself the new emperor. Hubert refused to serve the new self-proclaimed emperor without the approval of the True Faith. Hubert of Haldorf succeeded in convincing his barons to revolt with the slogan: “Long live free Haldorf!” If the Empire did not submit to the authority of the True Faith, Haldorf would separate.
The years 1007 and 1008 were marked by conflicts between the imperial supporters of the True Faith and those who bore allegiance to chaos. During the winter, a sign that the Empire was falling into chaos, the calamities of the Return of the Damned swept through Haldorf's armies, preventing him from taking part in the civil war in the rest of the Empire. After the fall of Vassouras in Dalabheim, the entire court of Haldorf was invited to Brahma for the coronation of Hubert of Haldorf by the Manus Dei Théobald of Lavignac during a ceremony with great pomp. The new King and his province became officially independent. The Circle of the Rose, the Royal Lily, the Order of the Lion and the Holy Order of the Templars, who were installed in Haldorf pledged allegiance to the good King. A delegation from Arganne also welcomed this coronation and spoke of good neighborliness and even building a bridge. No one in Haldorf suspected that a year later, Arganne would prove to be deceitful and a traitor to their word.
Besieged throughout the year 1014 by the troops of Brabancourt, the Host of the True Faith defending Brahma could not wait to do battle with the forces of Andore, in order to settle by last stand the case of the siege of domain of Brahma. It is on the plain of the mages that our army gathered, protecting the Good King Hubert of Haldorf and the Emperor Karl Von Shlaffenmark from the enemy armies, the usual people of Brabancourt, Tarpignan, Montfort, the elves, a few Redemptorists dressed like beggars and other people only good for feeding maggots.
We included among us a distinguished guest, Plume de Castenza. He was able to put aside the religious differences that separate us in order to be able to brutalize Duke Arios, known as the traitor, a long-time common enemy. We were joined by Imperial forces shortly after the start of the fight, which was very short-lived. Truly, God help us, this victory was more crushing than the previous one against the cannibalistic Hullsburg heretics. We thank all our allies, natural and otherwise, mentioning the vital importance of our elite skirmishers, the Gaurydrims. Without them, victory would have been uncertain. Long live the Kingdom of Haldorf and long live Good King Hubert!
On the other hand, the province of Haldorf and its allies humiliated Gorghor Baey by razing the monument erected in his honor as retaliation for the affronts he had inflicted on the True Faith...
During a second assault, the gunners, accompanied by Sac à Puces and a few men from Nemesis, managed, despite being outnumbered, to hold the western front for almost the entire conflict. They have the opportunity to face the consequence of the incessant escalation of violence: an eight-to-one cannon of the true faith. The gunners also have the chance to punish Gilles Marcus Flaminius for his presumption in having fought for the enemy, notwithstanding his alleged diplomatic reasons.
BP1014: A great battle is brewing at the bottom of the walls of Brahma's turrets. The bells of the cathedral are heard just before the assault and Sergeant Viktor's lance banner leaves the battlefield under the effect of the redemption of the True Faith. The armies of Haldorf make a sally in an attempt to break the siege. The armies of Duke Arios and Hook join the besiegers and tip the outcome of the fight in favor of the besiegers. The seat still holds.
For almost ten years, the best fighters in the region have been competing to win the kingdom's esteemed tournament: champions like Hector and Targon of the Order of the Lion, the paladin Deagon, Yves Jacques le Pied- bot… In order to celebrate the coronation of Hubert of Haldorf as High King of the Arganna Federation, the Haldorf tournament this year takes on proportions worthy of the wars that took place there. Adorned in their carefully arranged flamboyant colors, the fighters of the Host of the Saint-Reliquaire inaugurate the jousts of the celebration. However, such an event attracts people of all kinds. In the royal forest, located within the limits of the stronghold of Artoisard, several scoundrels of all kinds gather together hoping to be able to plunder the surrounding area while the noble people are busy at the tournament. Others, however, aspire, through their unquenchable desire to prove themselves in the eyes of their dark gods, to monopolize all the honor destined for them. Under the invitation of Grand Prior Wiss Norrisson, the bravado and the fights also begin in this camp in order to elect the dark champions who will cover themselves with glory!
The Empire responded by ransacking of the domains belonging to the Phoenix Guild and mandating Holy Order of the Iron Fist to crush the army of Prince Gabriel I in Berkwald and bring him back to the capital for his public execution. Some feared the Empire would break up over the council, especially given the already tense situation with the Imperial Council between Gorghor Bey and the Holy Order of the Iron Fist. With the True Faith Iron Fist declaring the self-proclaimed god, Gorghor Bey, was an anathema no unified imperial front could be raised (see Empire - Gorghor Bey)
By 1004, Gorghor boldly claimed to be a God, creating tension with imperial guilds following the True Faith, notably the Poing de Fer. The True Faith labeled Gorghor Bey as an anathema, an enemy greater than the chaos troops of Garganesh or necromancers of Teratos. This sparked court conspiracies and proxy wars, intensifying the conflict between Gorghor's horde and the followers of the True Faith in the empire.
With the path to the throne clear, Gorghor Bey proclaimed himself not only a God but also the new emperor. However, widespread dissent, particularly in the True Faith stronghold of Haldorf, resisted Gorghor's rule. This resistance led to a total war, culminating in the destruction of the abbey of True Faith founder Sainte-Abelle and the theft of the holy relic, the heart of Sainte Abelle herself.
Before long opposition had grown and Gorghor Bey was besieged in his own home. Despite facing military defeat, Gorghor achieved his true purpose. In 1007, he combined the heart of Sainte-Abelle with another artifact, the Chalice of Syrn, resulting in his ascension to the sun where his followers claim he now resides. The legacy of Emperor Gorghor Bey varies depending on who tells the story. Horde followers claim that consuming the heart granted him immense power, turning him into the sun itself. However, adversaries argue that becoming the sun was a form of punishment for his actions and he is burning eternally.
And on a purely political (and religious) level, Garganesh's curses are not to help us. The Holy Order of the Iron Fist, armed arm of the True Faith, is likely to unite with Salmarak in this ordeal. Only time will tell, but I believe that the battle that will take place in Eraldosse in a few weeks is, for us, lost in advance. The True Faith, and especially the Iron Fist, is a little cousin of the Order of Our Lady of the Redemption and losing the military support of these two experienced guilds in Salmarak would represent, in my opinion, an almost certain defeat, since it must be taken into account that they will probably bring other factions with them. However, I believe that it is not impossible to convince Redemption of the merits and advantages of fighting on the side of the Tower of Díedne.
The True Faith also had its representatives; the Holy Order of the Iron Fist, of the Vinier as well as the Holy Order of the Temple, to which I belong. We had lined up under the banner of King Solar, a pious believer of the True Faith. For our part, we were in the background, kneeling in prayer. Garin had given us orders to sneak between the enemy troops and take them from the rear, and that is what we intended to do. I myself had to lead the charge of the Order, gonfanon flapping in the wind.
However, many people still believe in the One and have taken refuge in the stronghold of Vandabren, the last territory in the Empire still under the authority of Ecclesia. Its inhabitants desperately send missives requesting the intervention of the Holy See. Their appeal was not in vain, during the Purple Ball and in the presence of the Grand Theocrat, the members of the clergy of the True Faith voted in favor of a crusade to avenge the martyrs of Bridier, liberate the province of Kintzheim and face the servants of Chaos.
Some now march to conquer new lands, others are led by their Faith, but all converge in Kintzheim and prepare to turn the earth red once more.
Re: Old Ones. From what I've learned over the years, these beings have appeared before in our world of Mundus and the Hippocampe Duché. They were supposedly 'discovered' or made themselves known, many years before. A religion was founded around these beings known as the Guardians of Knowledge, a race of beings that came before, making the world and all those Mortal and Immortal within it. These Guardians then left for other corners of existence after this awesome act of creation. When they returned years ago, many thought they were indifferent but otherwise powerful beings and so worship was accorded to them. However, as others began to research them, they discovered that these beings weren't merely indifferent or apathetic, they were intent on the destruction of Mundus. Perhaps they were bored with ennui, or maybe they wished to feed upon what their world had wrought. Either way, they were pushed away somehow for a time or distracted. The coming of the being referred to as Fel'Lökla was as a result of a high priest attempting a sealing ritual upon a portal. The rite was successful, however this entity arrived on our world. From what a curious sailor was able to discover, Fel'Lökla is a being of a type akin to the Guardians, however her world was destroyed by them and she managed to survive and come here, with apparent aims to prevent a similar Annihilation. However, we only have the word of this water-affiliated entity and their apparent connection with the race of Blue Men to rely upon. To my knowledge, the True Faith rejects this as heresy of a grevious sort and at most believes the Guardians are a group of rogue angels akin to the Tenamuach in origin. The Circle, to my knowledge, has not written anything in their scripture that refers to the Guardians, though based on their gospels, I suppose it is possible they could be seen as agents of the divine Balance or the Destroyer. The faithful of Fel'Lökla sees them as foes of all creation.
